About the Director

Dr. Balan Louis Gaspar* is a distinguished histopathologist and the Director of NextGenPath Diagnostics, recognized as the first in India to attain a DM in Histopathology from the prestigious Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. His academic excellence is underscored by the Prof. Subhash Kumari Gupta Memorial Gold Medal, awarded during his MD in Pathology at PGIMER. During his DM training, Dr. Gaspar established the neuromuscular laboratory at PGIMER, Chandigarh, and gained expertise in advanced histopathological techniques, including immunohistochemistry, electron microscopy, molecular methods (FISH, Sanger sequencing, NGS), and multidisciplinary team collaboration. His specialized training positions him among the few experts in India proficient in interpreting complex biopsies—ranging from muscle, nerve, brain, and renal tissues to rare non-neoplastic conditions and tumors across diverse anatomical sites. A prolific academic, Dr. Gaspar has authored over 45 peer-reviewed publications and penned 2 internationally acclaimed textbooks "Myopathology - A Practical Clinico-pathological Approach to Skeletal Muscle Biopsies" (Springer, 2019) and Immune-Mediated Myopathies and Neuropathies: Current Trends and Future Prospects (Springer, 2023) key references in the field. He is a sought-after speaker at national and international conferences, contributing to the scientific community through his roles as guest faculty, peer reviewer for reputed journals, and active membership in professional societies.
